Regardless if you are buying a new car or repainting your old one, selecting the car paint color can be a tricky thing. There are several choices available and it can get very complicated for someone who cannot decide what color to choose. But it is extremely important to consider well before you commit to a color because a snap decision could mean an expensive mistake!

Here are some advice which you should think about when selecting the car paint color.

1) The car type

Obviously, certain cars look better in certain colors. Luxury sedans exhibit even more beauty in elegant, classy car paint colors such as black and silver. Sports cars and muscle cars have such brash personalities that they almost need a bright and loud paint job to complement it. Tiny compact cars are normally cute-looking and would look best even with unique shades of blues and greens and even purples.

2) Your personality Not everyone wants to stand out and not everyone wants to blend in. What type of personality have you got? For those who want to get noticed, a funky car paint color is suitable, just as shades like beige and brown would suit those preferring to blend in with the crowd. But do remember, brightly painted cars tend to attract the attention of traffic cops!

3) The resale value of the car If you are thinking of selling the car later, just remember that classic car paint colors like silver, black and white have higher resale value. Cars in those colors tend to resell much more easily than those in say, a bright canary yellow. However, because of that plus feature in reselling, those very colors can make the vehicle more susceptible to theft as well!4) Climate and versatility If you reside in the tropics or have humid weather, choosing a black or dark car paint color should be avoided if possible. If you drive most frequently at nights, such dark colors will also not be wise. What about dirt and dust? These stand out against car paint colors like black or white, so if you are lazy about washing your car, shades which hide the dust will be best.
